Where Are We

August 9, 2016:  The Transition Pastor Search Committee has selected Reverend Kevin Buchanan to be our Transition Pastor.  Session has approved a contract with Pastor Buchanan, and the Presbytery of the Ohio Valley Committee on Ministry has also approved his contract. Pastor Buchanan is expected to join our ministry at Central on September 15, 2016.  An announcement was made in worship service on August 7, 2016.

July 3, 2016:  The committee has been conducting second interviews and is progressing well in our search for a transition pastor.  The pace is quickening, and the committee believes that a decision will be made soon on the call for our transition pastor. Following the selection there is a process for approval through the Presbytery.

May 16, 2016:  The Transition Pastor Search Committee has begun interviewing candidates for a call for our transition pastor.  We are very encouraged with the quality of applicants received so far, and we are continuing our search process in accordance with the Presbytery’s rules.

May 11th, 2016: Our MIF was uploaded to the denomination’s Church Leadership Connection (CLC) shortly after the April 22nd approval by the Committee on Ministry.  We have begun receiving contacts from interested clergy.  On the advice of our Executive Presbyter, Session voted this evening to adjust the MIF to make the postion attractive to a wider range of candidates.

April 22, 2016:  The presbytery’s Committee on Ministry has approved our Ministry Information Form (MIF.) They complimented the search committee on the form’s content and completeness.  The next step is to publish it electronically on the “Church Leadership Connection” site.  This is a nationwide tool used by ministers searching for a congregation to serve.

April 12, 2016:  With Lant’s departure, our Transitional Pastor Search Committee has completed a document titled “Ministry Information Form” that describes our church and the characteristics of the person we’d like as our Transitional Pastor.  Scott Paul-Bonham is serving us until that time, moderating Session and providing leadership from the pulpit.  The “MIF” as it’s referred to in short form was approved by the Session this evening and will now be reviewed by the presbytery’s Committee on Ministry.
