CPC enews for May 13, 2016

May 15 is Pentecost and the denominational Pentecost offering will be received. 40% of the offering is used by our Mission Committee for youth and young adult programs (including Triennium and Young Adult Volunteers). Please prayerfully consider what you can give.
4th Sunday Luncheon – May 22  CLCA has moved this month’s 5th Sunday lunch to the 4th Sunday due to Memorial Day.  Please bring a dish to share to go along with the provided chicken. Following the lunch, the 7th Cents Youth Group will have a “Service Auction” fundraiser. Youth group members will be available for a variety of services to the person with the highest bid.
SAWs Ramp Build – Saturday, May 21 from 8 am to early afternoon. Contact Josh Powers (812-239-3821; jopowers@indstate.edu) to sign-up or get more information.
Camp Friendship VBS is Friday, June 17 and Saturday, June 18. All children ages 3 to 5th grade will enjoy this fun event featuring stories (parables) around the campfire. On Friday evening, we will gather at the Wadsworth Farm (6500 E Old Ft. Harrison Rd) at 6:00 pm for a carry-in supper for the whole family. Hot dogs will be provided. Please bring a side dish to share, but no desserts. Drinks will be provided. Following supper, we will have story telling, songs and S’mores around the campfire until 8:00 pm. On Saturday, activities will be held at Centenary United Methodist Church from 10:00 am to 3:15 pm. Children will have activities and Adults will have Bible study class. Lunch (gluten free) will be served. Registration forms are available in fellowship hall or in the church office. Please return them to the church office asap. Adult and youth leaders are being recruited. A donation list will be posted in fellowship hall.
You can keep up with the Transitional Pastor Search Committee’s progress on the church website: https://www.thcpc.org/where-are-we/
CPC is alive and well! We may not have a pastor, but we are not without leadership and care. The Session, Deacons, Commissions and staff are continuing the work of the church as they always have. Rev. Scott Paul-Bonham and Rev. David Rosen are providing worship leadership and Rev. Linda Peters is doing pastoral care for the congregation. The Transitional Pastor Search Committee is at work. If you have any needs, please call the church office. In an emergency at night or on weekends, call Cheryl Moles (812-235-3646).
The Communications Commission is collecting pictures for inclusion on the “Activity Pages” of our picture directory.  They are especially looking for pictures of: this Easter; the 2015 mission trip; the Fall Bazaar; Vacation Bible School; the 2015 picnic; Bike and Build; parents’ night out; and any other shots you might have of church life!  Please email digital photos to: admin@thcpc.org this week.

Did you miss getting a photo session for the Pictorial Directory?  Photos will be taken at the church in fellowship hall classroom C on Sunday morning, May 15.  This is the last chance.

Note of thanks:
I wanted to thank you and the committee for the unexpected gift to the HEMEFund for Mother’s Day. That was so thoughtful!
Josh Powers (HEMEfund Vice-President of Programs and Public Relations)
