>Co-moderators elected for first time. Denise Anderson, a pastor from National Capital Presbytery, and Jan Edmiston, a presbytery executive from Chicago, were overwhelmingly elected Co-Moderators of the 222nd General Assembly (2016).

CPC is alive and well! We may not have a pastor, but we are not without leadership and care. The Session, Deacons, Commissions and staff are continuing the work of the church as they always have. Rev. Scott Paul-Bonham is providing worship leadership and Rev. Linda Peters is doing pastoral care for the congregation. The Transitional Pastor Search Committee is at work. If you have any needs, please call the church office. In an emergency at night or on weekends, call Cheryl Moles (812-235-3646).
ENTER THE TABERNACLE is the theme for summer Sunday School. There is one intergenerational class. All ages will learn and work together to discover how the design of the Old Testament tabernacle reflects God’s salvation plan and points to Jesus Christ. Gather in the Fellowship Hall classrooms at 9:30 am each Sunday, June 5 through August 7 (no class on July 3).

CHURCH LIBRARY NEWS – The Central Presbyterian Library collection is now available online to anyone with an internet connection!  Link to: https://www.librarycat.org/lib/THCentralPres. Similar to a Google search screeen, the library can be searched by title, author, subject or ISBN number. The search is not linked to circulation functions, so all books will show “available” even if they have been checked out, but it’s a handy way to see what books are in the collection! (Not all of the “call numbers” transferred over from the old system–they will be added in the coming weeks.) Please be patient as that work continues.

Check out procedures and materials for the library are on the table next to the adult library shelves in fellowship hall. The CN Library Subcommittee hopes that this will simplify the process and encourage the use of the adult and children’s section of our tremendous library.

UNDIE SUNDAYS – this is the last Sunday to collect
The Mission Committee is accepting NEW underwear to be donated to 14th and Chestnut Community Center. Boys’ boxers and girl’s underwear in all sizes for kindergarten through 12 grade youth are needed. This includes children and adult sizes up to 2X. Place your donation in the shopping cart throughout the month of June.

  • Habitat for Humanity House Build – July 9; 9am 2324 Arleth Street
    Spend a day (or part of) helping on a home build project. Persons of all skills and abilities welcome. Coordinator: Sala Adama
  • Meals on Wheels Ride Around – July 12; 10:30am – 12pm 300 S. 5th Street (Wabash Activity Center)
    Ride with a veteran volunteer & learn how this program helps the elderly, disabled, sick & homebound. Coordinator: Nancy Edgerton
  • Mollie Wheat Memorial Clinic – July 23; 8:30-1oam 1433 N. 6 ½ Street (Landsbaum Center)
    See the free clinic in action and learn about how this important medical facility meets health needs. Coordinator: Josh Powers

Group trip to the Red Skelton Museum in Vincennes will be Wednesday, June 29. We will leave CPC at 10 am to tour the museum and have lunch. The cost is $10 for museum entrance and travel. Lunch is additional. Sign up in fellowship hall or talk to Cheryl Moles if you want to go.

The Bazaar Crafters are collecting the “freebies”one can get at hotels. These “freebies” will be
given to the Maternal Health Clinic to pass out to the mothers that visit them. There is a basket in the fellowship hall if you would like to contribute.
A FALL DINNER AND BAZAAR is scheduled for November 4th and 5th unless the building renovation begins sooner than anticipated.
Heart to Heart Hospice is in need of volunteers to read to patients, assist with letter writing, playing cards or games and/or office support. Please talk to Steve Mead to find out how you can help. 812-232-9220.
