S’mores and Songs around the Campfire
October 5    7:00 pm
One of the favorite traditions of the spring Pyoca retreat is campfire night. (The participants have even been known to sit inside with the lights dimmed to sing around a cardboard fire when it was raining!) If you don’t want to wait until spring, won’t be able to attend the retreat next year, or just want the fun and fellowship, Beth and Kevin Christ are graciously hosting a campfire night from 7 to 9 pm on Saturday, October 5. S’mores will be made and drinking water will be available. Bring lawn chairs, a reusable water bottle/cup and dress appropriately for the weather. The Christs live at 7760 N Weger which is on the north side of Roselawn Cemetery. EVERYONE IS WELCOME.  [In case of rain, the cardboard fire will be in the church fellowship hall and s’mores will be made in the microwave. Fun and fellowship cannot be dampened.]

PLEASE HELP THE CHURCH LIBRARY – Christian Nurture Commission oversees the library and has cleaned out the children’s book collection. Books that were removed are on tables in fellowship hall so that the congregation can help us determine if there are any of those books that should be kept because of the donor, the topic, etc. We don’t want to get rid of any books that have value for someone and we may not know. Please use a post-it note to mark a book that should be kept and write a simple explanation why the book needs to be re-shelved. If there are books that you personally like but don’t feel it needs to be kept in the library, please take it. Any books remaining after October 20 will be put in the November 2nd sale.

GENTLY USED BOOKS AND ITEMS SALE – NOVEMBER 2
8:00 AM TO 2:00 PM at Central

Breakfast will be available.
Donations of books and items (no clothing) are now being accepted and should be placed in the west classroom (children’s library) by October 30.

UNDIE SUNDAY is October 27. A last service project of Holypalooza is to collect underwear for the children at 14th and Chestnut Community Center. All sizes for girls and boys (boxers only; no briefs) are needed. You may bring items in to the church on the 27th or before. Monetary donations are accepted with checks payable to 14th and Chestnut and “Undie Sunday” in the memo line. Thank you for helping with this often overlooked need.

The Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes are being sponsored by the Deacons and Youth Group. These boxes will bless children all over the world at Christmas. Items will be collected and then the boxes will be assembled by the youth group and taken to a collection point for shipping. Watch the bulletin for the October items. Please bring your items and place them in the basket in fellowship hall.
