CPC e-news for January 29, 2016

Love can speak without a single word. Love speaks in dance, missions, art, nature, civil protests, and relationships.
With God, you have a voice. Through you, God speaks to the world.

So pause and ask, how is God speaking through you?

SOUPER BOWL OF CARING – February 7
You can enjoy a delicious soup lunch and help others before the big game.  CPC youth will have its traditional soup extravaganza lunch following worship. If you are able and desire, please bring a crock pot of your favorite soup to share or a dessert. Also bring canned soup to be donated to the Unity Food Pantry and back your favorite Super Bowl team with your monetary donations to be given to a local soup kitchen or food pantry. We join churches all over the country to “change the game” and tackle hunger in our community.

The mission committee will collect food for the United Campus food pantry on the first Sunday of the month, starting in February.

Per Capita literally means “by the head.” In January, our treasurer will pay our share of our denomination’s administrative expenses which is $30 per active member. Please assist the church budget by paying your per capita early in the year.

Current membership directories are available in fellowship hall.

LENT begins with Ash Wednesday on February 10. Lenten Devotionals from Presbyterians Today will be available on February 7.
The ASH WEDNESDAY service will be on February 10 at 7:00pm at UNITY PRESBYTERIAN (an ISU basketball game makes a parking conflict at Central).
The Lenten Educational Series will be each Sunday evening, February 14 through March 20 from 5:15 to 7:15 pm. Supper will be served until 6:00 followed by worship and classes. All ages will be using John: The Gospel of Light and Life by Adam Hamilton in age appropriate studies.  Over the six weeks, you will read the entire text of the Gospel of John to experience a season of spiritual growth and life-changing renewal.

Audio recordings of sermons now available:
Did you miss a sermon?  Oh no!  But fret not, all is not lost; audio recordings of Lant’s and Scott’s sermons are now available on the church website, www.thcpc.org.    All of the August sermons have been successfully added.  There are also some (but not all) of the sermons from earlier in 2014 and 2015.   To find them, either go to this link: https://www.thcpc.org/sermons/  or, from the church homepage, select “About Us” and then “Sermons” to see the list. (Sometimes you may need to click on “Browse Series” once you are on the “Sermons” page to see the most recent addition.)  Sermon recordings should normally appear on the website the same afternoon they have been delivered.
