Women of the church of all ages—including little ones—are invited to join the Church Life-Church Action Commission for a tea party on Saturday afternoon, January 24, at 2:00. Child care will be available, and reservations are not necessary. Feel free to bring a friend to visit, enjoy an assortment of tea and tea party goodies, and hear Bethann Smith explain the lovely products she makes using things from her garden.
Do you enjoy creating things or wish you could? Would you like to learn a new skill, or teach others how to make interesting items? If so, come and join CPC Crafters on Wednesday, January 28th at 10 AM. Don’t worry if you’re not a “crafty” person; all are welcome to share a morning of interesting conversation and great fellowship. Bring something to work on if you like, and also a sack lunch. We’ll be so glad you did!
The annual meeting of the congregation of Central Presbyterian Church and of the members of our church corporation (Central Presbyterian Church, Inc., of Terre Haute, Indiana) (the “corporation”), will be held in the church sanctuary immediately following 10:30 a.m. worship (that is, approximately 11:30 a.m.) on January 25. Children 5th grade and younger may go to the preschool room for supervision and a video during the meeting.
Per Capita literally means “by the head”. In January, our treasurer will pay our share of our denomination’s administrative expenses. The per capita this year is $29.33 per active member. Please assist the church by paying your per capita early in the year.
Sunday, February 1- Souper Bowl of Caring Sunday. Join the youth in collecting canned goods and money for a local organization. Bring your canned goods and money to the Fellowship Hall and place it with the team which you want to win the Super Bowl. This is a great way for the youth to help the local community. After church, join us for a soup lunch to celebrate this special Sunday. Bring your favorite type of soup and a printed recipe. If you don’t feel like making soup, you could always bring a dessert to share. Contact Tiffany Grossman or Donna Paul-Bonham with any questions. See you there!
A sign-up for flowers has been posted in the fellowship hall. The cost for the flowers is $33 per Sunday. Sign up today for the day you would like to donate flowers. You may also call the church office to see if your special Sunday is available.
Family Prayer Group – The group meets at 11:00 am on Mondays for prayer time, but not lunch. On the 2nd Monday of each month, the group meets at 11:00 am for prayer and have lunch at noon. All women that care for the families of our church are welcome to join. Childcare is provided.
Sunday School classes meet each week at 9:30 am. Preschool – room 108; Elementary – room 202; Middle School and High School – room 201; Adults and Young Adults: Coffee and Conversation – FH classroom A; Christian Studies – FH classroom B; Christian Parenting – FH Classroom C.
The Sunday School offering is money for milk at 14th and Chestnut. Bring your coins for a little fun while giving this year!
Continue to bring the plastic caps and lids. They will be given to Art Totality for another bench.
LIFE – Living In Faith Everyday – This is a new Family Ministry Program for 2015. Church attendance and participation help children grow and learn in a worship community, but parents or guardians and family members are the primary religious educators. Children develop their faith every day through the examples of their parents and other adults. There will be 8 programs throughout the year to celebrate as a family the faith formation that occurs in your home. Please attend as you are able. The next is Tuesday, February 17 from 5:30 – 7:00pm. It will be centers to learn more about Ash Wednesday and Lent so that you can come and go at the times that work for you. The palms from last year will be burned for ashes at 6:30 pm. It is Shrove Tuesday, so there will be pancakes will for supper. There will be NO T3EM because many commissions are not meeting on that night, but rather for the officer retreat on Saturday, Feb. 21.
A Year of service for a lifetime of change. Do you know someone interested in becoming a YAV?
The Young Adult Volunteer program changes lives. YAVs learn to become agents of change while experiencing change themselves. Recruitment season for the 2015/2016 YAV year is in full swing until May 1, the final deadline. Next deadline is February 1, for serving at an international site. Applications are available online at www.pcusa.org.
