Image result for blue christmas    Christmas can be a painful time for some of us.  It may be the first Christmas without a beloved family member, or life circumstances may have changed in challenging ways, or it may be time that has always been difficult.  The constant refrain on the radio, television, in shopping malls, and churches about the happiness of the season and about getting together with family and friends reminds people of what they have lost or never had.  The pain of broken relationships, the insecurity of unemployment, the weariness of ill health, or the pain of isolation can cause us to feel very alone in the midst of the celebrations of the season.  We need time and space to acknowledge our sadness and concern; we need to know we are not alone.
For these reasons, we offer a special Service of Remembrance for the Time of Advent and Christmas on Sunday, December 10 at 7:00 p.m.  Please join with us in hearing prayer, scripture, and music that acknowledge God’s presence for those who mourn and struggle with the season.  We will acclaim that God’s Word brings light in the midst of our darkness.
After worship everyone is invited to meet at the Grand Traverse Pie Company.

The Mission Committee is sponsoring a “Giving Tree” that provides the opportunity for giving through outreach to the community and across the globe. An ornament shaped tag will have a need. Please take a tag, purchase the item(s) or make the suggested donation, and return it by December 17 (gifts should not be wrapped and the tag should be attached). Monetary gifts should go to the church office. Instructions for checks are on the tag. Thank you for your generosity.

The HERALD was electronically published on Dec. 1. If you have trouble opening it from the e-mail, go to thcpc.org – click on the “news” tab and open newsletters.

The Worship Commission is in need of cookies for Christmas Eve fellowship. As you do your holiday baking, please set aside cookies to bring in on the morning of December 24.
