The CHURCH PICNIC is this Sunday at Deming Park Lions III Shelter. Chicken and table service will be provided; please bring a dish to share. Lawn chairs and yard games will make the time of fellowship even more fun and comfortable.

Sunday School classes begin tomorrow at 9:30 am! The Preschool crowd will be greeted in room 108 by Beth Christ and Corinne Foree, Ellie Templeton is teaching Kindergarten and 1st grade in room 202; 2nd – 5th grades will be in room 103 with Susan Bough; Middle School begins Confirmation classes with Cheryl Moles in room 201; High School will meet with Jill Conner in the Fellowship Hall center room. The High School students will be teaching the elementary classes twice a month and we are happy to have them as part of the teaching team. Al Holder and Kevin Christ will be in the lounge (room 200) to discuss the books of Prophecy that weren’t done last year. If a spontaneous discussion class wants to happen, there is an empty classroom in Fellowship Hall to use.

With mixed emotions, CLCA will host a carry-in lunch on Sunday, September 9 to say thanks and farewell to Kevin and Astrid. Catering to Kevin’s dietary choices, it will be a vegetarian menu. Please bring salads, vegetables, pasta dishes and desserts. CLCA will provide “more substantial” vegetarian dishes.

Central is hosting and coordinating a Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University. It is open to all church family and the community. There is a cost for each household to cover the cost of your materials. Half scholarships are available for CPC members. The classes will begin meeting on September 16 at 4:30 pm and run each Sunday evening through November 11. Childcare will be provided. Talk to Ginny and Andrew Payne for more information and register at http://www.fpu.com/1069125. This is for anyone or couple to develop money management skills or for those looking for a way to adjust their existing financial system.

SALT SHAKER DINNERS ARE BACK! A new year of Salt Shakers will begin this fall and sign-up sheets will be in the Fellowship area beginning Sunday, August 29th.  We will have only three dinners – Fall, Winter and Spring.  Please be sure to add your phone number and your email (if possible), and check if you are willing to host at your home.  For those of you who are new or have never participated, Salt Shakers are groups of seven, eight, or nine people grouped together for a meal and fellowship. The designated host schedules the meal at their home and provides the main dish while each of the others bring the rest of the meal.  The dinner in the next season has the groups “shaken up” so that you will have the opportunity to dine and fellowship with other friends.   It is a great way to meet people you may not know and to get better acquainted with those that you don’t get to see very often.  Please see Eunice Pate if you need more information.
