THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

The shepherd walks with you in the midst of your trials.  The darkness is not changed, but rather you are changed when you receive the gift of his presence.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Lent devotions featuring readings by Henri Nouwen are available in the sanctuary and fellowship hall.
PRAYER TREES FOR LENT – Have you noticed the six “trees” in Fellowship Hall?  These are prayer trees!  During Lent, add your specific prayers (forgiveness, thanksgiving, for the world, for patience, wisdom and praise) by writing them on the leaf attached to each tree, pin the leaf to the tree either showing your prayer or turned away as you prefer.  There is no limit to the prayers that you can add.  Let’s bring spring to the trees while focusing on prayer during Lent.

Sunday School classes meet each week at 9:30 am. Preschool – room 108; Younger Elementary (K-2nd) – room 202; Older Elementary (3rd – 5th) room 103; Middle School – room 200; High School – room 201; Adults and Young Adults: Coffee and Conversation – FH classroom A; History of Christianity – FH classroom B; Christian Parenting – FH Classroom C.

The Sunday School offering is money for milk at 14th and Chestnut.  Please give generously.  Sunday School Superintendent, Sandy Mead, is offering a challenge – if we get $35 (all classes) or more a week in offering, there will be a milkshake party each month! Thanks for your generous giving.

Surrell Scholarship Applications are available in the church office.  2014 High School Seniors and current college students (including non-traditional) who are part of the CPC family, whether by membership or church life participation, may apply.  The deadline to return the application is April 30 and none will be accepted after that date.  See Sandy Mead or Amanda Davis for more information.

2014 Lenten Series – The educational series continues each Sunday through April 13 from 5:00 to 7:30 pm.  Supper will be served from 5:00 to 6:00 followed by worship and classes.  Adults will have an interesting discussion using the study “Faithful Citizen: Living Responsibly in a Global Society” exploring how our individualism focus can faithfully respond to global issues.  Fred Haan will lead the discussion of “Towards a Secure Community of Nations.”  Children and youth will enjoy a movie this week. Childcare will be provided for the youngest children.  CLCA will have spaghetti casserole for supper.

Continue to bring the plastic caps and lids.  They will be given to Art Totality for a second bench and to Unity Presbyterian for a bench.

EASTER FLOWER orders are due March 31!  An order form is in the bulletin or in the Herald on the website (www.thcpc.org)

The annual Easter Egg Hunt will be on April 12 at 4:00 pm at Deming Park.  Watch for more details.
