7th Street is closed for two months to construct the Arts Corridor.  Please use 8th Street (one way south) to get to the church.  Those that can walk a little farther are asked to leave the metered lot available for members of the congregation that need to park closer.

The Family Prayer Group meets each Wednesday 12:00 to 12:45 pm at the Davis home.  Parents (grandparents, too) spend time in fellowship and prayer focused on the needs of the families.  Come at noon to have a quick lunch before a devotion and prayer time.  Children are welcome.  Christian Nurture Commission members join in this way of giving spiritual support for busy families.

Interlink Conversation Partners meet each Thursday from 3:30 to 4:30 pm in fellowship hall.  More Central members are needed to meet with international students that are learning to speak English in preparation for study at ISU.  If you would like to be a part of this outreach, talk to Judy Duffy or call the church office.  The new semester schedule will be announced.

CLCA is offering a Sharing Garden in fellowship hall each Sunday this summer.  Those of you that have an abundance of produce or flowers from your gardens will bring it to share with church friends.  Those that would like the items may make a free-will donation that will go to the kitchen renovation fund.

Salt Shakers - These small groups will meet monthly for dinner and fellowship beginning in September.  Call the church office or Susan Bough to be a part of the fellowship.

Choir - evening rehearsals for the new season will be on Sept. 2nd  & 9th at 7:00 pm.  Sunday morning rehearsals (8:45) and worship participation begins on September 12.  Anyone interested in singing in the choir is invited to these rehearsals.

TEM - Tuesday Evening Meetings
Beginning on September 21, Christian Nurture Commission will provide a light supper at the church for those that are attending the several meetings held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.  This will be self-serve and self clean-up meal available from 5:15 to 8:00 pm.  Families and individuals are welcome to use this to ease the rush of meeting night.  Need help with the kids while you are meeting? Childcare will be available at the church during the times that meetings are taking place.  There will be space for play and quieter space for doing homework.

Parents' Night Out will take place on the first Friday of most months.  Childcare will be available at the church from 5:30 to 9:00 pm with supper provided to give parents some time for themselves.  All ages of children are welcome.  Please RSVP to the church office if you will be bringing your child(ren) on September 3.

What can a penny do?  Let's find out!  The preschool and elementary class is collecting a "mile of pennies" to be used to help feed the hungry.  This is in addition to the regular Sunday School offering.  Please bring pennies to help the children achieve this goal .  A collection jar will be in fellowship hall.  Do you know how many pennies it takes to make a mile? (Four pennies side by side are three inches.)  This activity is a result of a lesson about a church near New Orleans that collected a mile of pennies for hurricane relief and our kids asked if they could try to provide help for our community in the same manner.

Ladies' Night Out will be on Tuesday, September 7 with a movie night.  More information will come soon on the time and place to meet to see "Eat, Pray, and Love."

Celebrating Life will meet on Tuesday, September 14 at 1:00 pm in fellowship hall.  Britt Simmerman will tell of her experience as a member of the 2010 Central U.S. Bike and Build Team.  Everyone is welcome to come to hear about the remainder of the trip to Oregon after the team stayed at Central in June on their way west.  Notice the time change to accomodate our speaker's SMWC class schedule.

Seekers and Searchers Women's Bible Study will begin a study of Matthew on Tuesday, September 28.  The group will meet in the church lounge from 10:00 to 11:30 am.  Jan Kirschner will lead Unit 1 in the Interpretation Bible Studies by Alyce M. McKenzie.  Study books are available for $8.50.  All women are welcome.

Needed:  One men's bicycle.  We had a request from a homeless person for a bicycle to expand the range of his job searches and commute once he finds one.  If you have a bike that you would like to donate, please contact Alan Harder.

RECYCLE - Recycling containers (blue) are located in the office and near the kitchen for recyclable items.

Prayer Requests
Prayer requests can also place a request in the offering plate or write it on the pew pad in worship.  With your permission, they will be listed in the weekly e-news, the Koinonia prayer list, and announced in worship so the church family can pray for the mentioned needs.  Please keep the office updated on the requests.  Koinonia means "Christian fellowship or communion with God or with fellow Christians."  Printed Koinonia prayer lists can be picked up each Sunday from a table in the back of the Sanctuary.

E-Mail Newsletter
We continue to issue a weekly e-mail church newsletter.  Be sure that we have your current e-mail address in the church office if you would like to receive it.  Please provide your e-mail address in the pew pads, on the list in the Fellowship Hall, by calling the church office, or by e-mailing us at cpcoffice@thcpc.org.
