We have classes for preschool (ages 3-5), younger elementary (K-2nd grade), older elementary (3rd-5th grades), Middle School (6th-8th grades), High School (9th-12th grades), and 3 adult classes - Coffee and Conversation, Bible Basics, and Present Word Bible Study. Childcare of infants and toddlers is available in the nursery. Thank you to those that give their time and talent to teach/lead our classes. 2012 is the "Year of the Bible" at Central Presbyterian. Let's read the entire Bible during the year with the encouragement of doing it together. Talk to Cheryl Moles about getting your participant book (now $6). It is NOT too late! Follow author James Davison's weekly blog at theyearofthebible.wordpress.com or at the Central facebook page. As you read, jot down your questions or the things that stand out for you and come to a discussion group on Tuesday, February 7 at 6:30 pm at the church to compare your thoughts with others. Parents' Night Out is Friday, February 3. Childcare and supper is provided at the church from 5:30 to 9:00 pm. Notify the church office is your child(ren) is attending. The Women's Book Club will meet on Thursday, February 2 at 7:00 pm to discuss Huckleberry Murders by Patrick Manus. The Souper Bowl of Caring is February 5. The youth will be collecting dollar donations to a local agency that feeds the hungry and cans of soup for the Unity Food Pantry. Enjoy a soup lunch following worship that day. Bring a crock pot of your favorite soup (with the recipe) to share. A youth visioning retreat will be held on February 10-12. Youth Ministry Architects coach, Stephanie Caro will be back at Central and Centenary to help a group of people that care for the youth of our churches develop documents that give a clear vision and direction for the future. If you are interested in being a part of this, please contact Amanda Tramel (amanda@thcpc.org). A time commitment of Friday evening and Saturday 9am to 5pm is required. Celebrating Life will meet on Tuesday, February 14 at 1:00 pm in the church lounge. Members of the Kitchen Renovation Team will be on hand to discuss the plans for the church kitchen. Ash Wednesday service will be at Central at 7:00 pm on February 22. The Lenten Education Series will be held on Sundays, February 26 through April 1 from 5:15 to 7:30 pm. Watch for more information on the Know Chocolate at Lent and Ukrainian Egg classes. The flower sign up is posted on the board in fellowship hall. You can give the sanctuary flowers for a day special to you, in memory or in honor of a loved one. The cost is $33 for both bouquets each week. Terre Haute Ministries is assisting the Homeless Coalition to get volunteers to do a one-day count of the homeless population on January 25th. If you would like to help minister directly to our homeless individuals and at the same time be gathering information to help create more resources to serve them year round, please contact Honnalora Hubbard at 812-234-7100, ext. 215. Family Prayer Group meets on MONDAY at 11:30 am at the church. Parents spend time in fellowship and prayer focused on the needs of the families. Bring your own lunch if you desire to eat after the devotion and prayer time. Children are welcome. Christian Nurture Commission members join in this way of giving spiritual support for busy families. Your help is needed in cleaning up the pews following worship each week. If you will pick up the bulletins and other items as you leave, our sanctuary will look nice in the event of a midweek service and will help the session members that prepare for the service each Sunday morning.
