THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

a series of tweets from Niraj Warikoo, Detroit Free Press reporter covering ‪#‎GA221‬:

“Watching the Presbyterian assembly you see why Protestant-rooted civilizations have been so successful.
You see the Protestant sense of time, order, democratic openness, rule of law, & an unending drive to improve themselves & the world.”

ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Youth Mission Trip arrived safely back to CPC around 3:00 pm with a lot of smiling faces.  We can’t wait to hear of their adventures.  Thank you to Tiffany Grossman, Jim Moles, Donna Paul-Bonham, Jack Turman and Katie Guell  for their leadership and to the youth that were hard working and willing to tackle anything.  The report from the adults is that the kids NEVER had to be asked twice to help with something and that behavior was exemplary.

Sunday School classes meet each week at 9:30 am. Preschool – room 108;  Elementary – room 202; Middle School and High School – room 201; Adults and Young Adults: Coffee and Conversation – FH classroom A; History of Christianity – FH classroom B; Christian Parenting – FH Classroom C.

The Sunday School offering is money for milk at 14th and Chestnut.  The Center is serving 100+ children plus 24 staff members.  They are using about 5 gallons a day.  Please give generously.  Sunday School Superintendent, Sandy Mead, is offering a challenge – if we get $35 (all classes) or more a week in offering, there will be a milkshake party each month! Thanks for your generous giving.

Keep up with the last days of the PC(USA) 221st General Assembly at www.pcusa.org.  Live streaming is at pcusa.org/ga221.   [FYI: Jeff Moles will be giving the opening prayer of the final plenary at 9:00 am on Saturday, June 21.]

There will be a 5th Sunday Carry-In Lunch on June 29 following worship.  CLCA will provide chicken.  Please bring a side dish to share.

Continue to bring the plastic caps and lids.  They will be given to Art Totality for a second bench and to Unity Presbyterian for a bench.

Attention Crafters and those that enjoy fellowship – There is a crafting session for the Fall Bazaar is Wednesday, June 25 from 10 am to 2 pm.
